Material details
Step aside, industrial manufacturing.
Ceramics are made from earth. They’re imperfect, but that’s what makes them beautiful. Our clay pots are handmade by an artist in Gujarat. The result? One-of-a-kind pieces of art and a warmth in our spaces we’re craving. -
Care details
It likes a bright spot with access to the sun. A few feet away from a window is ok.
It likes a drink once or twice a week, more in the hot, summer months, less in the monsoon and cooler seasons.
It needs a haircut every few weeks to be kept in shape. -
Plant details
The tradescantia species is native to the Gulf Coast of eastern Mexico and Guatemala. Its leaves are a pretty purple where there's new growth and the older growth turns green. In the monsoons, it might reward you with a pink flower or two, but this is rare indoors.
The genus contains 75 perennials that are colloquially called wandering jew, or wandering dude. This one is the Tradescantia zebrina ‘Tricolor’.
Lance-shaped leaves from pendant stems grow a couple of feet or so long. These small leaves have a shiny appearance and grow to about 2 – 4 inches long with pointed tips. The underside of a leaf is purple in color on the zebrina and new leaves appear purple at first, then turn green. In the wild or grown in gardens (grown as a bedding plant) stems take root at the nodes, but indoors in a hanging basket or container they grow and hang over the sides. -
